Arm Lift otherwise known as Brachioplasty is a procedure that reduces excess sagging skin that droops down when you raise your arms. It also tightens and smoothens underlying supportive tissue that will help contour your arm. Excess fat that has accumulated in your upper arm can also be removed when necessary by liposuction techniques. Although exercise can help tone your arm muscles, there are certain states of your arm that will not change no matter how much dieting and exercise you do. In fact extreme weight loss from diet and intense exercise can make your arms sag even more due to loss of fat. Normal aging which results in loss of elasticity of the skin is an additional factor that further contributes to the sagging appearance. It is in these situations that an Arm Lift | Brachioplasty will most benefit you. Weight changes, aging, genetics, trauma, medications and certain disease processes can lead to extra fat and skin in the upper arms. Hence, if you have extra skin or fat in your upper arms an Arm Lift could be the procedure for you. Our Plastic Surgeon Dr. Young will determine what procedure is optimal for your needs.

How do I prepare for Arm Lift surgery?
Safety is the number one priority with any surgery. In preparation for your Armlift | Brachioplasty surgery you should have your expectations and desired outcomes set, your medical and surgical history reviewed as well as any medications you are taking. Most importantly medications that thin your blood can increase bleeding risk during or after your arm lift (brachioplasty) surgery. Some of the common medications are: aspirin, ibuprofen or motrin, coumadin or warfarin, and plavix. Some over the counter medications or herbal medications may also contribute to blood thinning and increase bleeding risk. During your consultation, these medications will be reviewed and discussed in more detail with regards to stopping them. Sometimes, these medications may involve consulting your primary care provider on whether this is safe to do or not.
